I just passed the three-week mark of blogging daily. Momentum has been a powerful motivator for writing every day, as I tried to express in my first post. I’ve since added the accountability icons below, but admittedly I’m still struggling to get up to speed with them. Some days seem harder than others for some tasks, while a few are beginning to feel natural but are also easily forgotten.
Looking back, the major thing I am lacking is actual work progress, which is obviously problematic for an aspiring entrepreneur. I have lofty goals, and I struggle somewhat in breaking them down to digestible pieces. When I do finally reach manageable sub-goals, I still think of them as part of a daunting big picture, while simultaneously being willing to dismiss them because they seem like such small tasks. Setting deadlines is supposed to help, but my problem is that the deadlines are private and self-imposed, so I reschedule or lose track easily.
To help solve my continuing problem with self-accountability, I’ll be adding another section below the icons to stay focused publicly. Two goals will be listed, along with a brief summary and a deadline. One small task will be due in three days or less, and one short-term goal will be no more than a week away.
It helps that I am starting with an exterior deadline for my short-term task. A game design group I once belonged to before leaving Las Vegas was relaunched last month, and it has its second meeting this Sunday. I aim to bring a functional prototype of the planned flagship title for Join In Games, tentatively called Problematic Cards™. I need roughly 100 unique cards, of which about 30 have already been created.
I need to get as good at dismissing the Resistance as I am at dismissing my tasks to overcome it.
